Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Servings: 4

4 (5 Oz.) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 slices deli ham
2 slices deli Swiss cheese
¼ cups of all-purpose flour
½ tsp. salt, or to taste
¼ tsp. ground black pepper
1 large egg, lightly beaten
⅔ cups of plain dry bread crumbs
3 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted

  1. On a cutting board, sandwich two pieces of parchment paper with each chicken breast. Use a mallet or a foil-wrapped brick to flatten each breast to a thickness of 1/4 inch, being careful not to lb through completely.
  2. To create 4 pieces of each, cut the slices of ham and Swiss cheese in half. Each flattened chicken breast should have 1 piece of ham and 1 piece of cheese stacked in the middle. The ham and cheese should be tucked inside the breast as you roll the breast up like a jelly roll. To prevent the cheese from leaking out,
fasten the ends and sides with toothpicks. Place in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours, or at least 15 minutes.
  3. If the manufacturer advises it, heat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  4. In a small bowl, mix the flour, salt, and pepper. In the second bowl, add the beaten egg. In a third bowl, add bread crumbs.
  5. Each chicken bundle is coated by being dipped in a flour mixture, egg, and bread crumbs mixture. If you come across any areas that are only flour-coated, lightly pat them with a beaten egg and bread crumbs. Place each bundle in the air fryer basket after lightly brushing it with melted butter.
  6. Cook in the air fryer for about 20 minutes, or until the crust is nicely browned, the chicken is no longer pink in the center, and the juices are clear. In the center, an instant-read thermometer should register at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees C).
